OCA Aspire Clinical Analyst

Description
Get hands on experience with Aspire, OCA’s electronic health record. Assist OCA staff with the implementation of our software at chiropractic clinics, participate in program evaluation and quality assurance or act as a chiropractic subject matter expert to the project team to provide clinical perspective regarding software features, functionality and design.

Advocacy Day

Location: Queen’s Park, 111 Wellesley St W, Toronto, ON
Tentative Date Range: Training in January/February 2020. Advocacy Day is on February 19th, 2020

Description
Join us at our annual Advocacy Day to lobby government about important issues affecting chiropractors and our patients. Advocacy Day consists of two parts: have an official meeting with your Member of Provincial Parliament (MPP) and attend our lunch reception to connect with MPPs and their staff.
This volunteer role would require ten hours, broken down into two hours for involvement in pre-event planning, and eight hours for attending the event. To participate in this opportunity, you are required to be available for all of Advocacy Day. The timing for the pre-event planning will be flexible.

Riding Designate Apprentice

Location: Ontario-wide (in your electoral district)
Date Range: Late Fall 2019 – June 2020
Volunteer Hours: 5-10

Description
Shadow a local chiropractor in meetings with your MPP in order to build and maintain close relationships with government. The goals of the meetings may include raising awareness about chiropractic generally and/or gaining support for specific initiatives/issues as part of our government relations activities.

Interprofessional Tradeshow Participation
Location: Greater Toronto Area
Date Range: October – November 2019 and May – June 2019
Volunteer Hours: 5-10

Description
Engage with other primary care providers (e.g., physicians, nurse practitioners, etc.) and health policy influencers at health care conferences to discuss the role chiropractors play in delivering patient-centred care. This will include raising awareness about non-pharmacological approaches to pain management, discussing access to interprofessional teams and different models for collaboration. You will be partnered with an experienced chiropractor or an OCA staff member to discuss chiropractors’ involvement in the publicly funded system such as in Rapid Access Centres, the primary care low back pain programs and Health2Work.

The OCA will provide talking points and marketing materials to help inform your discussions.

Social Media Content Creation

Description
Work with the OCA to help develop new content for our digital platforms. Be featured on our Instagram, develop exercise or chiropractic tip series and help us profile achievements in the profession.

Here are the ways you can get involved:
Instagram photoshoot: We’ll work together to create new content for our social media channels. The content will be driven by you and your patient population.
Chiropractors at work: This is an opportunity for you to connect with established chiropractors in your community to profile their achievements and patient stories. We will provide you with a set of questions and interview skills training to help prepare you for this role.

Subject Matter Expert Website Writer
Location: Virtual

Description
We are in the midst of redesigning our website and revising its content. Working with OCA staff, you will help update existing web content and develop new content. Your expertise is needed to ensure this content meets current chiropractic standards and guidelines, based on best available evidence. The primary focus will be on developing and updating patient education content. You may also be asked to help develop content that pertains to research, innovative initiatives or other topics of specific interest to chiropractors and/or other health care professionals.

Webinar Content Reviewer
Location: Virtual
Date Range: October 2019 – June 2020

Description
OCA Advance, our CE program designed exclusively for Ontario chiropractors, gives members access to complimentary live webinars every Wednesday to help chiropractors boost their business skills and enhance their patient care.

Work with us to help review and evaluate webinar content within our online curriculum.  Your expertise is needed to ensure that current and new webinars are relevant to chiropractors.  We require 20 hours; volunteer to review ten hours of content (ten webinars videos), and the remaining ten hours towards completing evaluation of webinar content.
